I have to laugh when I read that Wal-Mart is a force for good! If that is true then whey did Wal-Mart COST AMERICAN TAXPAYERS $77 MILLION IN 2004 because of increased crime at their stores? And do you know that Wal-Mart will procecute ANYONE WHO SHOPLIFTS FROM THEM. If you steal so much as a 50 cent item and they catch you, they will arrest you and file charges. At one Wal-Mart store in Vermont, the community had to hire 2 additional police officers JUST TO HANDLE ALL THE BOUNCED CHECKS THE STORE RECEIVED!!
In 2004 police received 148,331 cals for service for 551 Wal-Mart stores that were analyzed. For these 551 stores alone there were 2,909 reported police calls for violent or serious crimes, including 4 homicides, 9 rape or rape attempts, 23 kidnappings or attempts, 154 sex crimes, 550 robberies or attempts, and 1,024 auto thefts. Wal-Mart has security people BUT THEY ONLY PATROL INSIDE THE STORE. THEY DO NOT PATROL THEIR PARKING LOTS. When their security patrols their parking lots, the crime rate goes down. But Wal-Mart doesn't like to patrol their parking lots. That costs too much money.

Wal-Mart a force for good? Hardly.
Just thought I should inform you that #1 here is incorrect. As of Thursday morning, the callers of TOTT corrected that. The old Rich People were okay. It is the NEW Rich people who are the problem.
The callers of TOTT know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT WAL-MART.
The first comment had to do about crime at Wal-Mart stores. Crime at Wal-Mart stores IS A DOCUMENTED FACT. And yes, Wal-Mart did COST TAXPAYERS AN ESTIMEATED $77 MILLION IN 2004. It is a documented fact that there were 9 rape or rape attempts, 23 kidnappings or attempts, 154 sex crimes, 550 robberies or attempts, and 1,024 auto thefts.
Unfortunatley, calls of TOTT only see Wal-Marts cheap prices. And they ASSUME IT WILL BE GREAT FOR OUR VILLAGE. They assume everyone, including local busineesses will benefit, our taxes will go down, etc. And of course they will have a great place to shop. BUT THEY FAILED TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK. They only hear what they want to hear. And when you tell them of WAL-MART FACTS, THEY DON'T BELIEVE ANY OF IT. You are lying. But unfortunately, there are loads of web sites and books with all this information. And there are also many former employees who have their sad and sorry story to tell about working there.
Think Wal-Mart is a great place to work? Then why does an AVERAGE EMPLOYEE QUIT AFTER 3 MONTHS? Wal-Mart has to replace approximately 52,500 employees EVERY SINGLE MONTH! An October 6, 2003 Business Week article titled "Is Wal-Mart To Powerful" said that they have a 44% turnover of their hourly employees every year. And it used to be 70%! Do you think Business Week made up these figures? No. They did something TOTT callers are NOT DOING. Business Week did THEIR HOMEWORK CONCERNING THIS CORPORATION. Do your homework.
Wal-Mart gets VERY LITTLE OR NO GOOD PRESS ANYMORE. That's why they are having this huge advertising campaign to improve their image. It is because their image is being tarnished. And why? Because the truth of how they run their business, how they treat their employees, where they purchase their goods, etc. is FINALLY GETTING OUT. One out of every 3 communities where Wal-Mmart wants to go are now fighting them. Do you suppose these people know something that TOTT calls do not?
